The Regional Collections include original manuscripts and records generated by private individuals, institutions, and organizations from throughout the eighteen northern Illinois counties. The collections span the period from 1800 to the present and focus on several major themes in the region's history: agriculture, politics, ethnic heritage, commerce and industry, the role of women, and urban expansion. To provide documentation in these areas of interest the Center actively collects the historical records of farmers and their organizations, businesses and retail stores, state and local politicians, churches, cemeteries, civic agencies, individuals, women's organizations, and labor unions. In addition, the Center holds vertical file manuscripts, county and local histories, atlases and plat books, city directories, maps, broadsides, posters, photographs, oral histories, genealogical journals, and core reference printed materials on the history of northern Illinois that complement the manuscript collections.

The collection contains the business records of the Duck Soup Coup Co-op of DeKalb, IL from 1974-2015, when the store closed. The collection consists of scrapbooks relating to the Kishwaukee Community Hospital from 1924 to 1975. The scrapbooks contain newspaper articles that detail the activities of both the DeKalb Public Hospital and the Sycamore Public Hospital, as well as their auxiliary groups. An additional box includes reports, meeting minutes, and memos documenting the creation of the hospital and its activities.

Angelina Hill Papers

Burlington Railroad Strike Collection (Aurora)

The Burlington Railroad Strike records were collected by the donor in the course of his Ph.D. dissertation research. The records from the Burlington Railroad were donated to Mr. Flynn by a company official. These records include special agent reports, legal documents, and correspondence. Malta Congregational Church Records

The Malta Congregational Church records date from its organization in 1858 to 1991. The administrative series contains a complete run of Church Record books from November 3, 1858 to January 31, 1965 and from October 27, 1983 to January 31, 1990. Pocket Travel Map Collection

Scope and Contents
The Pocket Travel Map Collection, consists of 22 maps dating from 1835 to 1916. The travel maps resemble a small book with hard covers containing a folded map so the traveler could easily fit the map inside their pocket. Often times included with the maps were indexes and historical information about the area. The maps have been stored in their original folded state therefore are extremely fragile. The researchers should be extremely careful when handling the maps.
