The Regional Collections include original manuscripts and records generated by private individuals, institutions, and organizations from throughout the eighteen northern Illinois counties. The collections span the period from 1800 to the present and focus on several major themes in the region's history: agriculture, politics, ethnic heritage, commerce and industry, the role of women, and urban expansion. To provide documentation in these areas of interest the Center actively collects the historical records of farmers and their organizations, businesses and retail stores, state and local politicians, churches, cemeteries, civic agencies, individuals, women's organizations, and labor unions. In addition, the Center holds vertical file manuscripts, county and local histories, atlases and plat books, city directories, maps, broadsides, posters, photographs, oral histories, genealogical journals, and core reference printed materials on the history of northern Illinois that complement the manuscript collections.

Altrusa Club Records (DeKalb-Sycamore)

Scope and Contents The records of the Altrusa Club of DeKalb-Sycamore date from the club's founding in 1960 to 2001. A history of Altrusa International, Incorporated is in folder one. The minutes for May 1972, contain a brief history of the local club. Series I, the DeKalb-Sycamore Records, contains a complete set of yearbooks and a nearly complete set of minutes. DeKalb County Migrant Ministry Records

Hall Family Collection (Sycamore)

Hauswald Family Account Books (Sycamore)

Scope and Contents In his family account books, Walter E. Hauswald, chronicles over seven decades of the family’s finances dating from 1932 through 2000. Kishwaukee Community Hospital Records

Scope and Contents

The collection consists of scrapbooks relating to the Kishwaukee Community Hospital from 1924 to 1975. The scrapbooks contain newspaper articles that detail the activities of both the DeKalb Public Hospital and the Sycamore Public Hospital, as well as their auxiliary groups. An additional box includes reports, meeting minutes, and memos documenting the creation of the hospital and its activities.
