Abstract
The Beta Omega Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi held their first meeting in April 1938 and was chartered in March 1939. Beta Sigma Phi was first organized in DeKalb in October 1945. The DeKalb/Sycamore Chapters of Beta Sigma Phi been composed of one or more chapters since its founding in the area in 1938, including chapters Beta Omega (Sycamore, est. 1939), Xi Gamma Upsilon (Sycamore, est. 1956), Xi Zeta Alpha Exemplar (DeKalb, est. 1963), Preceptor Gamma Epsilon (DeKalb), and Illinois Epsilon Phi (DeKalb, est. 1963). Beta Sigma Phi International is a non-academic sorority founded in Abilene, Kansas in 1931 by Walter W. Ross. It is dedicated to helping women fulfill their lives through social, cultural, and civic enrichment. Now in the 21st century, this sorority has about 200,000 members in chapters around the world. The organization has grown to every state of the United States, to every Canadian province, and to 30 other countries. Donations have been made to medical research, treatment, and to such institutions as homes for children.

Judith Sill, a member of the Preceptor Gamma Epsilon Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi , donated the records of the four DeKalb/Sycamore Chapters to the Regional History Center on May 27, 2016.
