The Regional Collections include original manuscripts and records generated by private individuals, institutions, and organizations from throughout the eighteen northern Illinois counties. The collections span the period from 1800 to the present and focus on several major themes in the region's history: agriculture, politics, ethnic heritage, commerce and industry, the role of women, and urban expansion. To provide documentation in these areas of interest the Center actively collects the historical records of farmers and their organizations, businesses and retail stores, state and local politicians, churches, cemeteries, civic agencies, individuals, women's organizations, and labor unions. In addition, the Center holds vertical file manuscripts, county and local histories, atlases and plat books, city directories, maps, broadsides, posters, photographs, oral histories, genealogical journals, and core reference printed materials on the history of northern Illinois that complement the manuscript collections.

American Legion Post No. 66 - DeKalb Records

The records in this collection partially document the activities of the DeKalb American Legion Post #66 from 1919 to 1979. Types of records include: meeting minutes (1969-1971), membership records (1929-1942), newsletters, certificates, cemetery maps, and photographs. Due to the extensive gaps in the documentation, the research value of the collection is limited.

Baldwin Family Papers (DeKalb)

City of DeKalb Collection

Scope and Contents The City of DeKalb Collection is organized into two record series. The first series, City Records, consists of budgets, comprehensive development plans, revised ordinances, and committee records. Documentation on the urban renewal project in 1968-1969 can be found in the Urban Renewal Study Committee records. Clark C. Cryor Collection

Scope and Contents The Clark C. Cryor Audiovisual Collection contains 16mm film-reels from the 1950s through the 1970s. Several of the 16mm films were transferred to DVD and/or VHS tape by the DeKalb Public Library and donated to the Center.  The DeKalb Public Library also has copies of the DVD and VHS tape reproductions.
