Scope and Contents This collection consists of the historical collections of the four progenitor councils of the Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois (GSNI). Because of this, the collection contains different materials from these four councils. They do share similar categories of items however, so the breakdown of the council holdings is reflected at the sub-series level. Two of the councils that now make up GSNI went by different names in the past but this is not reflected at every level of the collection....

Scope and Contents The Sabin-Van Arsdale Collection consists of 845 photographs, a small amount of correspondence, diaries and school work, surveyor’s notebooks, tour books, and other printed material. The photographs depict western mining and manufacturing operations, landscape and scenery from Europe and the United States dating from the early twentieth century, and portraits and candid shots of relatives and friends of the Sabin and Van Arsdale families. Scope and Contents

Records in the Zelnis/Smith Family Collection date from 1909 to 2005. Mr. G.B. Smith and Mrs. Valaria Zelnis Smith of DeKalb, Illinois are primary family members featured in the collection.
