Harvey Edward Hoyt was born July 7, 1907 in Elburn, Illinois, the youngest of three children born to Edward L. Hoyt and Della A. Sharp. Harvey graduated from the two-year program at Northern Illinois State Teachers College in 1928. He taught at the Elburn Elementary School, and later taught 5th grade at Sugar Grove Elementary School. A member of the Community Congregational Church in Elburn, he was noted for his work with the Boy Scouts....
