The Regional Collections include original manuscripts and records generated by private individuals, institutions, and organizations from throughout the eighteen northern Illinois counties. The collections span the period from 1800 to the present and focus on several major themes in the region's history: agriculture, politics, ethnic heritage, commerce and industry, the role of women, and urban expansion. To provide documentation in these areas of interest the Center actively collects the historical records of farmers and their organizations, businesses and retail stores, state and local politicians, churches, cemeteries, civic agencies, individuals, women's organizations, and labor unions. In addition, the Center holds vertical file manuscripts, county and local histories, atlases and plat books, city directories, maps, broadsides, posters, photographs, oral histories, genealogical journals, and core reference printed materials on the history of northern Illinois that complement the manuscript collections.

The materials in the collection partially document three areas of Collins’ professional activities. The collection contains general correspondence concerning Collin’s personal business dealings from 1931 to 1974, correspondence and topical literature related to Collins’ duties as State Representative (1931-1943) and State Senator (1943-1973), and correspondence from Collins’ legal practice with most materials involving specific legal cases.

The Dixon Chamber of Commerce records are organized into three series: Minutes & Committees, Programs & Events, and Subject Files & Publications. The collection documents the Chamber’s activities from 1920-1980, although two earlier documents are included in Box one, folder one: a copy of the original incorporation papers (1887) and the resolution that changed the organization’s name (1915).

The Franklin Grove Collection contains a variety of documents detailing several facets of the community's history. One series comprises minutes and treasurer's account books, (1932-1980) from the Cross Roads Community Club. Green River Ordnance Plant Records (Amboy/Dixon)

The records for the Green River Ordnance Plant (GROP) date from 1941 to 1946 and consist of the plant’s administrative office documents, plant and employee photographs, government documents, brochures, grounds passes. Malta Congregational Church Records

Scope and Contents
The Malta Congregational Church records date from its organization in 1858 to 1991. The administrative series contains a complete run of Church Record books from November 3, 1858 to January 31, 1965 and from October 27, 1983 to January 31, 1990. These records books include meeting minutes as well as baptismal records, confirmation class lists, deaths records, dismissal information from the church, membership and officer lists, and memorial listings.
