The Regional Collections include original manuscripts and records generated by private individuals, institutions, and organizations from throughout the eighteen northern Illinois counties. The collections span the period from 1800 to the present and focus on several major themes in the region's history: agriculture, politics, ethnic heritage, commerce and industry, the role of women, and urban expansion. To provide documentation in these areas of interest the Center actively collects the historical records of farmers and their organizations, businesses and retail stores, state and local politicians, churches, cemeteries, civic agencies, individuals, women's organizations, and labor unions. In addition, the Center holds vertical file manuscripts, county and local histories, atlases and plat books, city directories, maps, broadsides, posters, photographs, oral histories, genealogical journals, and core reference printed materials on the history of northern Illinois that complement the manuscript collections.

Johnson Family Records (DeKalb County)

Scope and Contents
At present the collection contains information relating to Revere E. Johnson’s careers in farming (1917 - 1945), and at the General Electric Plant in DeKalb (1946-1964), Johnson family materials and photographs, documentation relating to World War II rationing, maps, and DeKalb County history articles.

Joseph Llewellyn Company Collection

The Joseph C. Llewellyn Company Collection consists of linen drawings for the DeKalb County Infirmary, DeKalb County Jail and Sheriff's Residence in Sycamore, DeKalb Township High School including a 1921 addition, Ellwood School, and the club house for the Kishwaukee Country Club.
Included in the collection are specifications, receipts, contractual agreements, correspondence, and photographs for the six sets of drawings.

Kane County Development Department Records

Scope and Contents
The material in this collection came from the background and informational files of two directors of the Kane County Development Department, Thornton “Tony” Ware and Frank Olson. In general, the material covers the years between 1960 and 1980. However, some of the files date as far back as 1957 and the creation of the department.

Kishwaukee Community Hospital Records

The collection consists of scrapbooks relating to the Kishwaukee Community Hospital from 1924 to 1975. The scrapbooks contain newspaper articles that detail the activities of both the DeKalb Public Hospital and the Sycamore Public Hospital, as well as their auxiliary groups. An additional box includes reports, meeting minutes, and memos documenting the creation of the hospital and its activities.

The Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra Collection dates from 1977 to 1998. These records consist of meeting minutes, correspondence, grant applications, newspaper clippings, brochures and programs, as well as papers of incorporation, by-laws, and other reports. Also included are Kishwaukee Symphony associates newsletters, and program material. This collection, although not complete, will provide the researcher with documentation on the growth of the organization, and its musical programs.

The Malta Congregational Church records date from its organization in 1858 to 1991. The administrative series contains a complete run of Church Record books from November 3, 1858 to January 31, 1965 and from October 27, 1983 to January 31, 1990. These records books include meeting minutes as well as baptismal records, confirmation class lists, deaths records, dismissal information from the church, membership and officer lists, and memorial listings.
