Biographical or Historical Information
Revere Elmer Johnson was born in 1898, the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Johnson. He also had a brother Carl Martin and a sister Helen M. Johnson. On February 24, 1926 Revere married Zaida Christine Munson, and they had one daughter Corinne Elizabeth. In 1917 Revere had taken an agricultural course at Madison, Wisconsin and apparently hired out for several years, until he joined his father on a farm C.M. purchased in 1926. In December of 1946 he started working at the General Electric plant in DeKalb. Over the years he held a number of jobs including machine operator, stock keeper, dispatcher, process planner, foreman (Stator Making, second shift, beginning March 1, 1954), and by December 1961 he was a plant guard. After his retirement from GE on June 1,1963, he enjoyed gardening. He died in 1966, and Zaida in 1970. They are buried in the Fairview Cemetery, DeKalb, IL.
