The collection consists of historical plat maps for cities and townships in DeKalb County (Ill.) from 1865-1951. Also included are the meeting minutes of the DeKalb County Highway Commission from April 5, 1884- April 15, 1913.

At present the collection contains information relating to Revere E. Johnson’s careers in farming (1917 - 1945), and at the General Electric Plant in DeKalb (1946-1964), Johnson family materials and photographs, documentation relating to World War II rationing, maps, and DeKalb County history articles.

Scope and Contents The Oversize Collection consists of unbound items from various Regional History Center collections which are too large to store in regular archival boxes. The Oversize Collection contains five major groups of documents: posters and broadsides, photographs and prints, maps, newspapers, and certificates. The Embree Collection's railroad calendars and posters show the locomotives of various railroads from the late 1930's through the mid-1950's. The war poster collection contains 629 posters...

Scope and Contents

The Pocket Travel Map Collection, consists of 22 maps dating from 1835 to 1916. The travel maps resemble a small book with hard covers containing a folded map so the traveler could easily fit the map inside their pocket. Often times included with the maps were indexes and historical information about the area. The maps have been stored in their original folded state therefore are extremely fragile. The researchers should be extremely careful when handling the maps.
