DeKalb County Building and Construction Trades Council Records
The collection consists of the records of the DeKalb County Building and Construction Trades Council from 1950 to 2001. The records include administrative files, minutes, correspondence, printed materials, legal documentation, and audio-visual materials. The records reflect the organization’s activities as a labor union. The correspondence includes letters from individuals, labor organizations, private companies, and public organisms. The minutes have many gaps, especially before 1980.

There are four bound volumes in the collection covering the period 1851 to 1939 with some gaps. The volumes provide a record of township taxes collected, funds disbursed, election of supervisors, and development of roads. Minutes of meetings for the period 1886 to 1939 complete the collection.

The materials in the collection partially document Ray A. “Dutch” Scott’s 1974 campaign for Illinois State Senator. Included are correspondence, position papers, and projects describing Scott’s Democratic platform and his involvement in local community services prior to the 1974 campaign. Also included are state and local legislative publications, reports, and memorandums dating 1967 to 1976.
