Homer Hall was born May 30, 1887 in Belvidere, Illinois, one of four sons born to Fred and Nellie (Bowen) Hall. He graduated from Northern Illinois State Normal School in DeKalb in 1908. He received his B.A. from the University of Illinois in 1912, and his M.A. from the same institution in 1913.
