Biographical or Historical Information

The DuPage Older Women’s League is a branch of the National OWL which was created after the 1980 White House Mini-Conference on older women. The DuPage group was established on April 23, 1988 with 12 members.  At that time there were already 22 chapters nationally with 9 located in Illinois.  DuPage OWL functions as both a social and advocacy organization with a mission devoted to issues facing women as they age: long-term care, health care, violence against older women, affordable housing, economic security, and the view of older women in society.
