Scope and Contents

The collection contains printed and handwritten manuscripts of short stories, novellas/novelettes, and novels, as well as galleys of published works. The collection also includes a large amount of correspondence between Sparhawk and various publishers, writers, and agents, as well as material related to his careers in the Air Force and as an engineer. Series I contains novel manuscripts. Series II contains novella/novelette manuscripts and galleys. Series III contains short story manuscripts and galleys. Series IV contains correspondence arranged chronologically. Series V contains articles written by Sparhawk for SFWA newsletters as well as engineering publications. Series VI contains contracts which are bundled with correspondence, payment, galleys, and manuscripts for each published work. Series VII contains miscellaneous material.

Biographical or Historical Information

Bud Sparhawk is a hard science fiction short story writer who started writing in 1975 with three sales to ANALOG. Since returning to writing his works have appeared in ANALOG, Asimov’s, several “Best of” anthologies as well as in other print media and on-line magazines both in the United States and Europe. He has two short story collections and one novel (released in December 2008.) He has been a three-time Nebula finalist. He lives in Annapolis, Maryland and is a frequent sailor on the Chesapeake Bay.
