Anti-Communist Posters and Booklets in Thailand
Scope and Contents
These anti-communist posters and booklets were produced by the United States Information Service (USIS) in Thailand in the 1960s. They were propaganda materials used for fighting against the communist influences in Thailand, especially in the Northeastern region, during the Cold-War era. Most of the posters displayed in this collection are part of the series “Communism or Freedom,” donated to Northern Illinois University Libraries by Mr. George Smith,... who was a Peace Corps volunteer teaching in a high school in the province of Kalasin, Thailand, from 1967 to 1969. The donation consists of seven 28 x 20 posters, five 8.5 x 11 posters, one 20 x 28 poster, two graphic format booklets focusing on Thai vs. Communist oriented society, one graphic format booklet focusing on life and society in Communist China and one booklet of United States cooperative development projects with the Thai government.
