Biographical or Historical Information

Richard Chwedyk was born in 1955 and has been a science fiction lover since he was young.  He used to read ‘fanzines’ back in the 1960s before the Internet came along and he went to his first science fiction convention in 1984.  Mr. Chwedyk usually only writes short stories, novelettes (novellas), and poems, but he has also tried his hand at a novel.  His first published story was 'Getting Along With Larga', which was the winner of the ISFiC writer’s contest back in 1986.  He won this competition again in 1988 with 'A Man Makes A Machine.'  He has administered many writer’s workshops at science fiction conventions over the years.  His work has been published in many magazines and anthologies over the years, such as: Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, Tales from the Red Lion, Visual Journeys, Strange Horizons, and Year’s Best SF 8.  In 2003 he won the Nebula award for ‘Best Novella’ with his work, 'Bronte’s Egg.'  Mr. Chwedyk is married to a Chicago poet named Pamela Miller Chwedyk.
