Scope and Contents

This collection consists of typescript drafts and page proofs of series guides for Doctor Who and Angel. These were shared with the Thomases by Lars Pearson founder of the Mad Norwegian Press and a professional acquaintance. Series II is devoted to convention materials and ephemera collected by the Thomases during their habitual attendance at science fiction conventions. Some of these materials contain handwritten notes.

Collection is open for research under the terms of the NIU Special Collections and Archives. Photographs and photocopies of collection are prohibited.

Conditions Governing Use

Property Rights are transferred to the University Libraries per the signed Deed of Gift Document. Literary Rights are retained by the content creator. Any copyrights so stated in the materials remain in force.

Biographical Note

Lynne M. Thomas is a prominent name in the science fiction world. She is perhaps best known as the co-publisher and co-editor-in-chief of the Hugo Award-winning Uncanny Magazine with her husband, Michael D. Thomas. Lynne Thomas previously served as the Head of Rare Books and Special Collections at NIU from 2004-2017. Both Lynne and Michael Thomas were regular attendees and presenters at multiple science fiction conventions in their capacity as editors and publishers of fan materials.
