Round Grove Grange Records (Round Grove)
Scope and Contents
The materials in the collection partially document the activities of a subordinate grange in Round Grove, Illinois from 1941 to 1975. Included are letters, journals of proceedings, by-laws, rules of order, rosters, and manuals of ritual from 1872 to 1975. With the exception of business correspondence and certificates (1941-1975) from the Round Grove Grange, the bulk of the material describes state and national grange activities. The collection is incomplete in that most manuscript materials belonging to the Round Grove Grange were destroyed in the Grange Hall fire. Of special interest are 2 souvenir flags for the Indianapolis 500 mile auto race for May 30, 1911.

Biographical or Historical Information
The Round Grove Grange was organized by Glenn G. Wilson, secretary of the Illinois State Grange on March 6, 1960 in Whiteside County, Illinois. Meetings were held in what originally was a Methodist church located at the intersection of U.S. Route 30 and Lyndon Street.
Round Grove Grange was primarily a social organization sponsoring civic activities such as insurance programs, singing groups, and guest speakers. Interest in the Grange membership waned by the mid-1970s and the Round Grange disbanded.
