Biographical or Historical Information

Ms. Shinn began writing stories and poems when she was eight years old.  She earned a degree in journalism from Northwestern University and has worked for The Professional Photographer, DÉCOR, and BizEd.  She is currently employed full time and writes about management education and according to her webpage gets to “interview some really cool, really smart people from all over the world” (http://www.sharonshinn.net/).  She works on her novels on the weekends and evenings when she is not working, and in her spare time enjoys reading and following the Cincinnati Cardinals baseball team.  She also enjoys movies and television as stated on her web page: “If I had the time, I’d see a movie every day of my life.”  Fans often ask her if she is a musician because of the role that music plays in her writing, and she has replied that she has taken years of piano lessons, sang in choirs throughout school, and does enjoy singing with family around the holidays, but does not consider herself a great musician.
