Campus Development
Scope and Contents
The Campus Development records date from 1943 and contain building, remodeling and renovation records for various campus buildings. Also included are long range building and land acquisition plans for DeKalb and NIU. Records are arranged alphabetically according to the building or specific project. Researchers interested in the development of the NIU campus should also see the building files held in the Quick Reference Collection. The University Archives also holds a number of blueprints and plans in its Audio-Visual Collection [UA 11], and an inventory to those materials is available. Additional campus development records may be found in the President’s Papers [UA 4]. The Oral History Series “Town-Gown Relations” in Collection [UA 53] also contains some insights on the development and growth of the campus. Photographs of the campus and buildings are also available, which may be located through a subject index.
