The materials in this collection are divided into three series. The first, Intercolleciate Athletics, documents Northern’s affiliation with various athletic associations, such as the N.C.A.A. Information on a number of coaches and athletic directors from the 1960’s-1990’s, as well as history of the university’s athletic programs, especially football and basketball are found here through fact books, game programs, official scores, and rosters. Women’s Athletics at Northern is documented in the second series. Information on Women’s Intercollegiate Athletics, the Women’s Athletic Association, and the Women’s Recreation Association are found here. The records in the third series document the Secretary of Education’s Commission on Opportunity in Athletics [Title IX at 30] 2002-2003.
