RHC/UA/36. Student Publications

 Record Group Term
Identifier: RHC/UA/36
The Student Publications series contains information on, and copies of, nine publications. Only two, the Northern Star and “Towers” are still published. The student newspaper is the largest series: it began publishing as “The Northern Illinois” a monthly magazine shortly after the school opened. Renamed the Northern Star in 1954, it expanded to a five day a week newspaper, in 1968. Another large part of this collection is the yearbook, the Norther, which ceased publication in 1977. The university’s literary magazine and the alternative student newspapers make up the rest of the group. The Northern Star is available on microfilm in the Microforms section of Founders Library.
