Northern established a University Press in May of 1965, and the organization of a University Press Board with a director began immediately. The Press’ first publication came out in 1967. This collection consists primarily of University Press publications, but there are several files dealing with the formative years of the press, reports and correspondence, from1965 to1978. University Press publications are added regularly.

The University Press records consist primarily of the Press’s publications. There are several folders of information on the formative years, 1965-1975. For additional information, researchers should consult the Presidents' Papers, the Provosts' Administrative Records and the records of the College of Education in the University Archives.
