The Regional Collections include original manuscripts and records generated by private individuals, institutions, and organizations from throughout the eighteen northern Illinois counties. The collections span the period from 1800 to the present and focus on several major themes in the region's history: agriculture, politics, ethnic heritage, commerce and industry, the role of women, and urban expansion. To provide documentation in these areas of interest the Center actively collects the historical records of farmers and their organizations, businesses and retail stores, state and local politicians, churches, cemeteries, civic agencies, individuals, women's organizations, and labor unions. In addition, the Center holds vertical file manuscripts, county and local histories, atlases and plat books, city directories, maps, broadsides, posters, photographs, oral histories, genealogical journals, and core reference printed materials on the history of northern Illinois that complement the manuscript collections.

All Rockford Party Records

Scope and Contents

Records in this collection partially document many of the activities of the All Rockford Party from 1957 to 1967. Types of materials include organization plans, meeting minutes and agendas, committee reports, financial records, platforms and policy statements, and membership information. Campaign materials and newsclippings indicate candidates and major issues of interest to the party. Other names used by the party were Greater Rockford Party and United Rockford Party.

National Chair Company Records (Rockford)

Rockford Building and Construction Trades Council Records

Scope and Contents The Rockford Building and Construction Trades Council records (1937-1981) are arranged in the four series established by the R.B.C.T.C. office: minutes of meetings, topical correspondence files, wage scales and contracts, and financial records.  With some exceptions this collection is complete in tracing the history of the Council from its founding in 1937: records from 1968 to the present have been retained in the R.B.C.T.C. office and will be added to the collection when no longer needed...

Rockford United Labor AFL-CIO Records

Scope and Contents The Rockford United Labor AFL-CIO records are arranged in four series: administrative records, committee records, subject files, and publications and printed materials.  The collection traces the history of the organization from its founding in 1957.  Records dating from 1977 to the present remain with the organization, but will be transferred to the Center when they become inactive.
