The university began broadcasting radio programs in 1947 using a local station's facilities. In 1954 programs began to air from the new campus station, WNIC-FM. In 1968 the station received permission to change its call letters to WNIU-FM. A sister station, WNIJ-FM was added in 1990. In addition to program guides and reports, this collection also contains tapes of news broadcasts and musical programs, primarily from the 1960’s and 1970’s.

Scope and Contents
This collection contains materials relating to the WNIC, WNIU-FM and WNIJ-FM radio stations. Histories of WNIU and WNIJ, as well as information on WNIC is found in box one. The majority of this collection consists of WNIC and WNIU program guides, dating from 1947 to 1982. The guides contain program schedules and content notes on shows and series.
