President Leslie Holmes created a Computer Services Department in 1962 which became Computing Services in 1976, and in 1979 the Academic Computer Center. Again reorganized in 1985 it became the Computer Information Center and User Services, in 1990 it was renamed Academic Computing Services, and in 2001 became Customer Support Services. This department develops and runs computer programs for students, classroom instruction, and faculty research. The materials in this record group primarily document the first twenty years of this department including the development of computer programs and language manuals.

Scope and Contents The Academic Computing Services records include a variety of material, the majority of which dates between 1969 and 1985.  Administrative records, such as annual reports and budgets, are followed by papers documenting the development of various programs.  These programs were developed by the office for the university and include an on-line student records system, a computerized registration and records program, and a computer file of faculty records.  Several computer networks are documented...
