BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH Edwin Marvin Eckberg was born to Oscar and Bertha Eckberg in 1915. Raised in DeKalb, Illinois, E.M. Eckberg attended DeKalb Township High School.  He graduated from Northern Illinois State Teachers College in 1936 with a Bachelors in Education and a focus on zoology and chemistry.  He was a member of Beta Tau Sigma and Alpha Phi Omega while at NISTC.  By the time he entered NISTC, his mother Bertha was working at the DeKalb Trust and Savings.  After graduating from the University of Illinois-Chicago College of Medicine in 1940, he practiced medicine in Galva, Illinois.  Material from Eckberg’s medical studies at the University of Illinois, Chicago Medical College are denoted.
