BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH Thelma Jeannette Wright attended grade school in Rock Falls, Illinois before her family moved to Algonquin. After graduating from Dundee High School in May 1940 Thelma came to Northern Illinois State Teachers College in DeKalb, where she received a B.S. in Music and English in 1944. While at NISTC she lived in Williston dormitory, was a member of the Treble Clef, and was on the Norther yearbook staff for 1944. After graduation taught both vocal and instrumental music in the Dundee-Carpentersville grade schools. This collection contains three scrapbooks which document the years 1940 to 1945. Included here is correspondence, cards, newspaper clippings, musical programs, playbills, and memorabilia relating not only to activities at Northern, but also to her interest in music. Since Thelma attended school here during World War II a number of items relate to the effect of the war on campus. This collection was brought in by the Northern Alumni Association in August 2004.
