N.I.S.T.C. Note of Appointments, 1931-1953

BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH Born November 17, 1902, in New London, Minnesota, Romeo M. Zulauf received his A.B. degree (1924) from Carlton College, his A.M. (1931) from the University of Minnesota, and his Ed.D. (1955) from Indiana University. Prior to his appointment at Northern Illinois University in 1928, Dr. Zulauf taught social studies in Deer River and St. Cloud, Minnesota and York Community High School, Elmhurst, Illinois.  After joining Northern as an instructor in economics and social science, in 1942 Zulauf was appointed Dean of the Faculty.  In 1952, the college adopted a completely revised plan of administrative organization and Zulauf was named Dean of Instruction.  His major responsibility was to supervise the instructional staff, the largest of four major divisions of the University. Dean Zulauf was a member of the following organizations: Phi Delta Kappa; the National and State Councils for the Social Studies; the American Association of University Professors; the National Education Association; and the Illinois Education Association. On July 22, 1957, Dean Zulauf died in his office.
