BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH Jessie Rebecca Mann was born January 29, 1870 in Earlville, Illinois and entered Northern Illinois State Normal School in 1902. Excelling in her science course work, Miss Mann was offered an assistantship in the department of biology. Twice she was granted leaves of absence for study, receiving a bachelor's degree from the University of Chicago and a master's degree from Columbia University. Miss Mann held a position in the biology department until her retirement in 1935. Jessie Mann died January 2, 1947.
