BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH Professor Martin Bartels was born in 1908 and completed his A.B. degree (1930) at Capitol University and his M.A. (1935) and Ph.D. (1949) degrees from Ohio State University. In 1951, Dr. Martin Bartels came to Northern Illinois State Teacher's College from a supervisory position with the Cincinnati schools and the University of Kentucky extension division. At the State Teacher's College, Bartels held the positions of Associate Professor in Education and Director of Placement until his retirement in 1974.
