Scope and Contents
BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH Kendall Lee Baker was born in Clearwater, Florida and completed his B.A. in Political Science at the University of Maryland; he then completed both the master's and doctoral degrees in Political Science at Georgetown University. His academic/administrative career took him to many stops before he came to NIU in 1987 as Provost. Prior to this appointment Baker had been Dean of the Graduate School at Bowling Green State University (as had his predecessor at Northern, John La Tourette). After several years of seeking a president's position at other institutions Baker resigned in 1992 to become president of North Dakota State.
