Calcomp Software Reference Manual, 1968
Scope and Contents
The Academic Computing Services records include a variety of material, the majority of which dates between 1969 and 1985. Administrative records, such as annual reports and budgets, are followed by papers documenting the development of various programs. These programs were developed by the office for the university and include an on-line student records system, a computerized registration and records program, and a computer file of faculty... records. Several computer networks are documented in this collection, including the proposed Northern Illinois Cooperative Computing Network. A large part of the collection is composed of computer manuals. They are guides to computer languages, programs and NIU's computer services. Some of these manuals were purchased from other universities and companies. Publications produced by Academic Computing Services complete the collection. The office's newsletter, previously titled Computer News, was changed to Computing News in 1976, and in 1995 it began publishing on-line. This newsletter is no longer produced. For additional material on computer services at NIU, researchers should consult the following collections in the University Archives: Presidents’ Papers (UA 4), Provost Office (UA 16), and Boards, Councils and Committees (UA 17).
