The IBHE records are arranged in six series: (1) minutes and supplementary materials, 1960-2003; (2) executive officer's records, 1962-1974; (3) master plan commission records, 1962-1975; (4) committees, councils and commissions records, 1964-1973; (5) reports and publications, 1965-1985; (6) correspondence and subject files, 1963-1994. Minutes and executive officer reports reveal the IBHE's policies on higher learning development throughout the state, and the master plans indicate the course this expansion and growth is expected to follow. All the committee reports discuss specific topics or facets of the universities' operations. Although the records do not deal exclusively with Northern, the information contained herein can reveal the causes or motivation behind the institution's developmental procedures.
