Diaries, Frances Josephine Forsythe, 1876-1878, 1882-1905
Scope and Contents
The Woodbury-Forsythe Collection traces the daily events in the lives of two Sandwich, Illinois families, the Forsythes and the Woodburys, over two generations. The diaries span the period 1876 through 1921, each year contained in a separate volume: Frances (Coleman) Forsythe’s diaries, 1876-1919; Nellie (Forsythe) Woodbury’s diaries, 1893-1921; and William Walden Woodbury’s diaries, 1892-1902. Also included are speeches, correspondence, programs, photos, and family genealogy. Although this material is sparse, it does supplement the diaries, especially as they relate to the Woodbury’s careers in the public schools of Sandwich.
