Scope and Contents
The Tim Pratt papers encompass the early authorial works of Tim Pratt, current Senior Editor of Locus. Series I is devoted to Spell Games (2009), book 4 in the Marla Mason series, and includes an early manuscript, copyedits, and page proofs. Series II contains the bulk of the collection. In Sub-Series A researchers will find early handwritten drafts of short fiction and poetry, some of which was never published. A draft of his first publsihed work, "53rd Annual Mantis Homecoming Dance" (1999) and a digital file of the Best Short Story Hugo winner "Impossible Dreams" (2006) are included in this sub-series. Sub-Series B contains zines and chapbooks including Flytrap co-edited with Heather Shaw.
The notebooks in Series III contain musings, drafts, and other notes pertaining to Pratt's first novel The Strange Adventures of Rangergirl (2005)—a Fantasy genre novel that blends elements of fantasy with the concept of forgotten Gods— and other early works, as well as personal events.
